Rivals Barcelona may have added a third Club World Cup title to their flattering trophy list on the other side of the world in Japan on Sunday, but back in Spain, Real Madrid provided a warning of their own attacking personnel's hunger. In a lopsided encounter at the Santiago Bernabeu, Madrid pumped in ten goals against lowly Rayo Vallecano at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Incredibly, nine of Real's goals came after they fell behind 1-2 in the 11th minute, sparking off massive booing in the stadium against the unpopular Real manager Rafael Benitez. However, once Vallecano had had two players sent off, Madrid started bossing the game, with an attack almost every minute. Wales forward Gareth Bale scored four as the Galacticos turned the screws on the hapless opposition defence.

The last time Real Madrid touched double figures in a match in the Spanish La Liga was back in 1960. Fans will hope that this result galvanises an otherwise unimpressive season for the Galacticos who are currently in third spot in the La Liga table, two points behind toppers Barcelona (who have a game in hand) and Atletico Madrid.
