Cheltenham Town FC play in the fifth tier of the English football league. But they've just become darlings of social media, though for reasons they might feel a little embarrassed about.

Different teams have different ways to take free-kicks. So did Cheltenham. Against Tranmere Rovers away on Saturday, they decided on a novel way to take a free-kick from the front of the opposition goal.

Five Cheltenham players stayed behind the ball and three of them attempted a dummy, pretending to kick the ball but pulling out at the last moment. The fourth player finally went for glory... only to send the ball sailing in a completely direction from the goal, with an entire stadium giggling at the proceedings.

Perhaps his head was reeling by the flurry of dummies, forcing him to lose his bearings.

Thankfully though, it did not come back to haunt them – Cheltenham won the game 1-0 and remained top of the table.
