He's back: ‘Sabko shiksha, sabko kaam, varna hogi neend haram’. What Kanhaiya Kumar said in Mumbai
At the top of his game, the student leader cracked several jokes about the controversies he's mired in, and even more about Prime Minister Modi.
Before Kanhaiya Kumar got on the Jet Airways flight from which he was banished – he may or may not have been attacked by a fellow passenger – he gave a rousing speech in his trademark style in Mumbai. Kumar spoke at a meeting titled "Student-Youth Assembly Against Discrimination" at Mumbai’s Tilak Nagar suburb on Saturday.
Kumar’s speech, as usual, was peppered with jokes and digs at the present administration and the “sanghis”. He posed several questions for Modi even as he mocked him, labelling the government one of "selfies" and "jumlas".
Reminding people of Modi's many campaign time promises, like the Rs 15 lakh he had promised to all Indians, creation of jobs, and a bullet train service, Kumar joked about how no one will be fooled by Modi's 56-inch chest if he doesn’t fulfil these promises. He can claim an even wider chest, but nobody really cares, said Kumar.
“Sabko shiksha, sabko kaam, varna hogi neend haram” ("education for all, jobs for all, else there will be sleepless nights) will be the slogan for the movement against the government, Kumar said.
Commenting on the many shoes that have been thrown at him, Kumar said, “Look at the extent of their hatred, they only ever throw the shoe on their right foot. Their shoes are also rightists”.
After the controversial flight-that-wasn't to Pune, Kumar eventually travelled by road and demonstrated that his war-cry has lost none of its appeal (video below).
