How do you hire? By dancing, of course.

The New Zealand police has posted a video of officers carrying out the "running man dance" and challenged forces from around the world to do the same.

The running man dance challenge is a social media dance meme set to the 1995 track My Boo by Ghost Town DJs, where people put up videos of themselves dancing to the track online and challenge other people to do the same. The New Zealand police force co-opted the meme into an initiative to increase recruitment.

The video was posted on Sunday with the message, "We catch people on the run every day, this was a new ‪#‎runningmanchallenge‬ for our team. Are you up for it Victoria Police, NSW Police Force, Western Australia Police, Queensland Police Service, South Australia Police, ACT Policing, Tasmania Police, LAPD Headquarters, Isles of Scilly Police and NYPD? "

The Kiwi police force wants to sign up 400 new officers by the end of 2016, particularly of Maori, Pacific Island, Asian, Middle Eastern and Indian descent, according to a report in The Guardian.

The New York Police department was the first to respond (video below), with some help from some local students.

And they extended the challenge to the New York City Fire Department, Boston Police Department and Police Scotland.

This is Scotland's response.

The Challenge hasn't been extended further by Scotland. Let's hope it arrives in India soon. To watch our policemen shake a leg would be...well... interesting .
