Watch: How did Serena Williams warm up for her French Open title defence? By aping William Tell
Amongst other things, Williams bursts a ballon on the other side of the net with her legendary serve.
At the ongoing edition of the French Open, 21-time Grand Slam champion Serena Williams is aiming to equal Steffi Graf's haul of 22 Grand Slam championships and move closer to the all-time of record of 24 currently held by Margarat Court.
One of her warm-up routines before the tournament was this compilation of trick shots by Dude Perfect, a television show that does trick shots featuring different sports. Nothing seems beyond the reach of the World No.1.
In the video, Williams bursts a balloon on the other side of the net with her legendary serve, and does a William Tell- and Roger Federer-inspired "Trust Tricky Shot", knocking an empty tennis ball can off her opponent's head with a volley.
Of course, we don't know how many misses were involved in getting the one hit we see in the video.
Below is Federer's supposed trick shot that went viral a few years ago. Although Gillette made it look like the Swiss had done the trick for real, the former World No.1 later admitted that it was fake. Still, FedEx seems to be the inspiration behind the entire idea for Dude Perfect. In another video, probably fake too, he lobs a series of balls into his coach's car from the roof.
Inspired by his rival's trick, Scot Andy Murray attempts his own version of the shot on a British talk show. The result is not pretty.
In a series of videos for Head, Maria Sharapova and Novak Djokovic teamed up to do a bunch of different trick shot videos. In one, Djokovic places an empty tennis ball can on his head and asks the Russian to see if she can do what Roger did. She misses and hits the Serb in a particularly delicate place. New balls, please.
