Watch this video of a woman climbing the Mount Everest in her living room, thanks to Virtual Reality
Facebook, Google and Microsoft have all invested heavily in the technology.
There's something about climbing Mount Everest from your living room. You don't even need to get into mountaineering gear. The only equipment you need: your virtual reality goggles, plus assorted hardware and software.
In the video above, a woman uses Everest VR to see exactly what a real climber would see – the breathtaking vistas as well as the risks and dangers of an avalanche or a missed footstep.
There's even a helicopter ride to provide a virtual reality view as you circle the peak in the air. VR is still in its early stages. The headset can be clunky. But the experience couldn't be more extraordinary.
