This rare rehearsal video shows why Donald Trump’s speech had almost none of his usual gaffes
Last-minute practice in the limo makes perfect.
US President Donald Trump’s first address to Congress shocked many – this time by sticking to the script and delivering conventional speech with poise.
This is not expected of Trump, whose often impromptu speeches (more like rants) have largely been about his electoral victory and his distrust of media.
It must have taken a lot of practice to deliver a traditionally articulated speech. The video above shows Trump in his armoured limousine, rehearsing his speech with various gestures and facial expressions, just minutes before the joint session of Congress.
It seems that Trump was oblivious that he was on camera.
“I have never seen this before. A President on the way to giving his, well, almost State of the Union and actually practicing it on television,” observed an MSNBC anchor.
Users on Twitter had something to laugh at, of course.
