Watch: If Hogwarts ever opened in India, this cover of ‘Hedwig’s Theme’ could be the perfect opening
If there’s one thing the world of Harry Potter was missing, it was the Indian touch, right?
We have all – ok, some of us have – fantasised about the day an owl would deliver our Hogwarts acceptance letter. Even if that may never happen, here’s something else for us here in our country. An Indian version of the music synonymous with the wizarding world of Harry Potter has hit cyberspace.
The YouTube project FLAIR, spearheaded by indie musician Mahesh Raghvan, has released (video above) a cover of Hedwig’s Theme from the Harry Potter soundtrack. The cover brings an Indian classical melody together with elements of electronic sound, but keeps the magical mystic of the original music alive.
The video provides an impressive visual experience, with fantastic VFX and cinematography by Tharun Joseph and Amitha Arun. The lone hand playing the iPad, the spoon that seems to stirring itself, and the fireworks are all reminiscent of the Harry Potter books and the films.
