If you live in India, chances are you’re being pestered to link your mobile number and bank accounts with your Aadhaar. Failure to do so, remind the messages, will result in suspension of services.

If you live in India, chances are you are already aware of all the problems that come with India’s unique identification number system. There are some grave issues of privacy, security, legality and a whole lot more associated with Aadhaar.

Which is why the funny folk at East India Comedy performed an uproarious Aadhaar Song. Taking a spin on Bollywood’s infamous song DJ Wale Babu the song “is what the government of India has been singing to all the citizens over and over and over again,” they explain.

Belting out the many problems with Aadhaar, “Privacy can go to hell”, and critiquing the government’s incorrigible obsession with the identification system, the song takes jabs at several other issues surrounding Aadhar, like data leaks, surveillance and the labelling of people as “anti-national”. Naturally, demonetisation and GST make special appearances.
