Watch: Two comedians tell comedy group AIB what is wrong with female representation in their videos
‘All of us at AIB hear you,’ is the response.
The funny and popular Indian comedy group AIB have been called out by fellow comedians Aayushi Jagad and Sumedh Natu for the lack of female representation in their sketches.
Jagad and Natu make a strong argument that despite AIB’s public image of being feminist, its comedy sketches have effectively turned women into, well, table-lamps. Replace the fleeting appearances of the women – in the videos not meant for an audience of women – with table-lamps, and it will make no difference to the narrative.
AIB acknowledged the view in this video with this tweet.
Some fantastic points in this video, and a privilege check if ever there was one. Thank you Aayushi and Sumedh for calling this out. All of us at AIB hear you, and we'll be better and work harder to create things that are more inclusive. https://t.co/nikELqzPYH
