Hoping to swim through the pristine waters in Bali, perhaps paddle through schools of fish and experience a magical world underwater, this diver found himself nevigating heaps of trash and plastic instead.

Rich Horner posted the video above on his Facebook page with a caption saying: “The ocean currents brought us in a lovely gift of a slick of jellyfish, plankton, leaves, branches, fronds, sticks, etc.,....oh, and some plastic”. This plastic will break into micro plastics, says Horner, and eventually find its way to the Indian Ocean.

As he swam through Manta Point in Bali, hoping to see mantas, Horner pulled out his camera to capture all the plastic waste he was surrounded in. This two-minute video is a stark reminder of how we’re choking our planet.
