Watch: This version of Nike’s ‘Nothing Beats a Londoner’ ad fixes the dearth of non-white people
It takes viewers through the ‘other side of London’.
Nike’s advertisement Nothing Beats a Londoner went viral soon after its released in February 2018. Depicting rising sports stars in London, the advertisement showed the challenges they face training in the city – while encapsulating the street culture of London. Well, sort of.
In the process of making the video (below), they forgot a notable percentage of London’s population – Asians, Arabs and other minorities.
A popular YouTuber, Humza Arshad, set out to fix that problem by making a version of the advertisement (video above), using only people from the minorities – Asians, Arabs, Turks, Somalians and other “brown people” as he puts it. Aptly, he titled the video The Other Side of London.
A comedian from Birmingham also made a “Brummy” parody version of the advertisement, that you can watch below, along with the original.
