“Fake news” and “fake media” are some of US President Donald Trump’s most favourite utterances. But does he understand the difference between real and fake news? Can he tell them apart?

American talk show host Jimmy Kimmel wasn’t too sure. So he called someone to the show with the same level of understanding as Trump about the world to explain to the American president what fake news is.

So Kimmel got a nine-year-old boy named Noah to break down the concept to Trump (video above). The boy offered a comprehensive explanation, complete with examples and dictionary definitions. Kimmel considers it important that Trump understand this explanation from a peer, because, as Noah put it, “When you call real news fake, you undermine people’s trust in the free press to keep us informed.”
