Apparently Facebook is done with offering new features. If the advertisement above is to be believed, its way of purging your newsfeed of fake news, spam and clickbait is to go back to what it once was.

Nostalgia, then, and not technology is the operating system of this new-old Facebook being touted. In this advertisement, Facebook acknowledges it made mistakes, and that it wans to return to its older avatar.

According to the video, that version is devoid of a jungle of emojis, multiple reaction buttons, and data breaches. “We came here for the friends,” says the advertisement, “but then something happened, we had to deal with spam, clickbait, fake news, and data misuse. That’s going to change”.
