‘It’s not that big a deal, but I’m thrilled.’ Meghna Srivastava, who has topped the 2018 CBSE Examination for Class 12, told Rajya Sabha TV. The student of Step By Step School, Noida, in the National Capital Area, explained that she studied consistently over two years, and exercised self-control without denying herself anything. Oh, and plenty of Netflix, Amazon Prime and music.

Srivastava’s favourite subject is psychology, which is what she plans to study in college. Her other four subjects in school were English, history, economics and geography. In other words, the top marks in this year’s exams did not go to a student in the science stream.

‘I’m as shocked as you are,’ she told the interviewer.
