Watch: This video takes you behind-the-scenes of the biggest dinosaur show in the world
What really goes into a live show featuring 18 life-size animatronic dinosaurs?
The creatures of the Jurassic era have been walking the earth once again. However, this time they are animatronic characters in a live stage show.
The hit BBC documentary mini-series Walking With Dinosaurs, which was first aired in 1999, inspired Walking With Dinosaurs – The Arena Spectacular, a $20 million production that boasts state-of-the art technology. The video above goes behind the scenes of the live performance to see how the 18 hyper-realistic life-size dinosaurs are controlled and coordinated to create what the website of the show describes as the “biggest and best dinosaur show in the world.”
Several interesting and fascinating facts are revealed in the process – for example, how bigger dinosaurs like the T-Rex needs three operators, while a smaller one like the Velociraptor can be controlled by performers inside the suit. The show is currently touring Europe.
