Watch: Why was the sky neon green in Tromsø, Norway?
The Northern Lights never fail to impress.
A video posted on Twitter shows a breathtaking display in the skies above Tromsø in Norway. This phenomenon in the sky, predominantly seen in high-latitude regions (around the Arctic and Antarctic) is known as an Aurora. Commonly referred to as northern/southern lights or polar lights, it is the result of disturbances in the magnetosphere caused by solar winds.
The colours and wavelengths of auroral lights can vary, depending on factors like altitude, atomic oxygen, UV radiation and solar activity.
