Cricket reached a new high as several international cricketers played a ten-over match on top of Africa's highest mountain Kilimanjaro at 18,700 feet last fortnight, making it the sport's highest-ever game. The altitude record was previously set in 2009 at Mount Everest's base camp in Nepal at a height of 16,945 feet.

The players, which included former English cricketer Ashley Giles and South African fast bowler Makhaya Ntini, trekked for eight days to get just below the summit of the Tanzanian mountain to play the game as part of a charity venture, Mt Kili Madness. They aim to raise funds that will go towards cancer research, wildlife conservation and also towards promoting cricket in Rwanda.
