Delhi: No fresh incidents of violence, say police officials
After three days of sporadic communal clashes, the situation in East Delhi's Trilokpuri area on Sunday remained tense but under control, as there were no reports of fresh violence. However, prohibitory orders continued to remain in force in the area. A large contingent of police, along with personnel from the Rapid Action Force and Central Reserve Police Force, maintained a tight vigil. Communal clashes that began on the night of Diwali have left 35 people injured, 13 policemen among them. Over 70 people have been arrested so far in connection with the incident.

Assam: 1,000-hour blockade in Karbi Along leaves Manipur, Nagaland cut-off

Cyclone Nilofar is expected to hit the coastal districts of Saurashtra and Kutch. Fishermen have been warned not to venture out into the sea.

Maharashtra: Ready to back BJP's choice for CM, says Sena
The Shiv Sena on Monday said that it was ready to back any candidate chosen by the Bharatiya Janata Party for the chief minister's post. "The people’s blessings cannot to be confined within limits," said the party newspaper, Saamna. "Shiv Sena will stand with absolute force and courage with whoever is given the chance to ride the chariot to take Maharashtra forward." Newly-elected legislators from the BJP will elect their leader at a party meeting on Tuesday, paving the way for government formation in the state.

Karnataka: Private school at the centre of rape incident reopens
The private school in Bangalore where a three-year-old girl was sexually assaulted last week reopened for classes on Monday. The Bangalore police had arrested an office attendant at the Orchid International School in connection with the crime on Saturday. Last week, the state government had booked the school for not having permits to run its nursery section.
