Gone Girl
David Fincher’s adaptation of Gillian Flynn’s suspense-heavy bestseller is about an unemployed journalist whose wife goes missing. The whodunit, starring Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike, has opened abroad to rave reviews. It will be released in India with an Adults only certificate and some cuts (no lovemaking and nudity for Indian eyes).
Fury
A saga of how a very angry Sherman tank and the group of American soldiers (including Brad Pitt) comandeered the vehicle tp defeat the Germans during World War II. David Ayer's drama (he has previously directed Training Day and The Fast and the Furious) promises the kind of on-the-nose action usually seen in boxing flicks or extreme martial arts movies.
Super Nani
Every few years, a movie comes along to remind us that we need to maintain the joint family system and respect our elders. Super Nani is this year's Baghban. The question is whether it will do for Rekha what Babhgan did for Amitabh Bachchan ‒ give her a meaty lead role that showcases her acting skills while allowing her to age gracefully. Indra Kumar's movie is based on the Gujarati play Baa Mari Boundary. Rekha plays the family matriarch who is ill-treated by her ungrateful family, until Sharman Joshi comes along to restore her honour.
Fireflies
Sabal Singh Shekhawat's debut drama is about two estranged brothers, played by Rahul Bose and Arjun Mathur, who lead separate and complicated love lives. One has an extra-marital affair. The other falls in love with a commitment-phobe. The movie, which is mostly in English, also stars Shivani Ghai and Monica Dogra.
