Helga and Ganga were born in Goa, at an Indo-Swedish Writer’s and Illustrators workshop. A Swedish writer, Örjan Persson, an Indian writer, Paro Anand and an Indian illustrator, Garima Gupta, decided to write a book together although they had never met each other.

They were inspired by the sea and had spotted dolphins that morning. So Örjan wrote about a young Swedish girl, Helga, visiting Goa, and Paro wrote the story of an Indian boy, Ganga. It was a first visit for both these teenagers, and although they were strangers from very different circumstances, their destinies became tied with one another in a strange and magical way.

Under the sea, living the fantastical life of dolphins, they discovered each other as well as themselves. Written as two books in one, following the same sequence of events, this is a unique adventure of self-discovery – as much for the characters as their diverse creators.
