Delhi: Kejriwal urges Modi to intervene
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kerjriwal on Sunday urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene and allow cancellation of agreements with power companies because they are selling electricity at higher rates. The chief minister said that many power companies are ready to provide electricity at Rs 2.5 or Rs 3 per unit. "Why are we purchasing 50% of the power at Rs 5.5 per unit when many other companies are promising to give it at cheaper rates,” he said.

Mumbai: Cops probe money trail in Bora's murder
Investigators in the  Sheena Bora’s murder case are concentrating on financial deals between her mother Indrani Mukerjea and two accomplices, reports said. Officials have been putting together the pieces in the complex murder ever since Indrani Mukerjea was arrested on August 25 in connection with the killing death, exactly three years after the 24-year-old was strangled and her body burnt and dumped in a forest in Raigad. A Mumbai Police officer said financial transactions between the three accused, the former Star India CEO Peter Mukerjea’s wife, her former husband Sanjeev Khanna and driver Shyam Rai, could help understand the motive for the murder.

Bihar: Paswan says he wants Muslims CM
Ahead of Bihar Assembly elections, Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan on Sunday said he wants a Muslim chief minister for the state but has been quiet because of the compulsions of being only one part of a larger coalition. "Everyone promotes their family members," Paswan said. "I’ll also do so."

Bangalore: No hurry to support Congress or BJP, says JDS
Janata Dal (Secular) chief HD Deve Gowda on Sunday made it clear that he is in no hurry to take a call on extending support to either the ruling Congress or BJP to take control of the Bangalore civic body. He added that he would convene a meeting of party MLAs, MLCs and corporators and defeated candidates in the August 22 polls for the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike on September 5 to take a decision.

Telangana: Centre to release funds
Union Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu said on Sunday that Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has promised that steps would be taken to release Rs. 1,250 crore belonging to the Telangana government that has been attached by the Income Tax department. The money was attached from the Telangana state treasury for dues receivable from beverage corporation of united Andhra Pradesh.
