The Janata Dal (United) on Sunday had its own interpretation about whether Bihar was polarised following the decision of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen leader Asaduddin Owaisi to contest 24 seats in the Seemanchal region. The JD(U) claimed that the only split in the state was between whether voters who were for Nitish Kumar and against. “The debate in the Bihar election has been veering round only thing, whether Nitish Kumar should return to power or not," JD(U) spokesperson K C Tyagi said.
Delhi: JNU shows youth support for Modi, says Shah
Bharatiya Janata Party chief Amit Shah on Sunday said that the clean sweep by the party's student wing, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidhyarthi Parishad, in the Delhi University Student Union polls showed nationwide approval of the Modi government's policies among the young people. "This victory represents the thinking of the youth of India and it reflects how the youth of the country have given support to the projects run by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the youth," Shah said.
Jammu and Kashmir: 12 arrested for molesting women runners
Clashes between youth and security forces marred the international half-marathon in Kashmir Valley in Srinagar on Sunday, following which 12 persons were arrested for allegedly eve-teasing and molesting women runners. The event aimed to spread awareness about protecting Srinagar's iconic Dal Lake against environmental degradation. Soon after the run was flagged off at Kashmir University at Hazratbal, some young men shouted anti-India slogans and pelted stones at forces, who resorted to lathicharge and firing of teargas shells.
Tamil Nadu: Skeletons of 2 persons exhumed
Skeletions of two persons killed as human sacrifice and buried by quarry owners four years ago were exhumed from the burial ghat near Melur in Tamil Nadu. The skeletons were ordered to be exhumed by IAS officer U Sagayam, appointed by Madras High Court as Legal Commissioner to probe illegal granite quarrying in this district. He had ordered digging of some sites where some persons were allegedly killed as human sacrifice and buried by quarry owners four years ago.
West Bengal: Rose Valley scam four times bigger than Saradha
Shibamoy Dutta, MD of Rose Valley group arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation, has also emerged as the mastermind of the chit fund scam. It was used to dupe over one lakh investors of over Rs 10,000 crore, four times the money in Saradha scam. CBI sources said that Dutta was instrumental in initiating two schemes, Aashirward and Holiday membership, through which investors were lured to invest with the promise of high returns.
