Mumbai-based mixed media artist Dipti Bondre’s new show, which explores Hindu geometric symbols in Turkic-Islamic architecture, comprises a series of photographs of Istanbul that have been printed on canvas and painted over with yantras and mandalas.

BOOKS TALKS Remembering Victoria Ocampo at India International Centre
A presentation and panel discussion about the Argentine writer Victoria Ocampo, which will focus on how she broke into the male-dominated literary circles of South America as well as her relationship with Rabindranath Tagore. The speakers include Jawaharlal Nehru University professor SP Ganguly and Argentinian filmmaker Pablo Cesar. There is no entry fee.

MUSIC SaMaPa Sangeet Sammelan 2015 at Kamani Auditorium
This three-day festival organised by the Sopori Academy for Music and Performing Arts celebrates “some of the great legacies” of Hindustani classical music. The institute’s founders, the father and son duo of santoor players Bhajan and Abhay Rustum Sopori and Delhi gharana vocalist Iqbal Ahmed Khan and his students Tanveer Ahmed Khan and Anis Ahmed Khan will perform on Friday, November 20, from 6.30 pm. A percussion ensemble made up of Ajrada gharana tabla players Hashmat Ali Khan and Akram Khan and the father and son duo of pakhawaj players Ravi and Rishi Shankar Upadhyay; and Benaras gharana singing siblings Rajan and Sajan Mishra and Rajan Mishra’s sons Ritesh and Rajnish Mishra will perform on Saturday, November 21, from 6.30 pm. FILM Ebang Bewarish (…And The Unclaimed) at India Habitat Centre
Debalina Majumdar’s 2013 documentary is about two girls from a remote village in West Bengal who commit suicide because of the community’s opposition to their romantic relationship. A discussion about the film will be held after the screening, which is part of the ViolenceReels, a series of events organised by the Kriti Film Club to raise awareness about violence against women. PHOTOGRAPHY Origins: A Photographic Tale of Relations Between the UK and India at the British Council
This exhibition is the culmination of PhotoUK-India, a collaboration between the Alkazi Foundation for the Arts and the British Council to promote the work of photographers from both countries.
