Years ago, Anupam Kher hosted a show called Say Na Something To Anupam Uncle. He would interview children under the age of 10, ask them about their likes and dislikes and they would tell him a secret. The children's hilariously innocent answers would leave the audience in splits. The show would end with Kher dancing with the children as the credits rolled.

On Tuesday, Kher decided it was time for a revival of sorts. As his wife Kirron addressed Parliament during the intolerance debate, he started the hashtag #AskAnupamAnything on Twitter, inviting his fans to a question and answer session.

In light of recent events, this was always going to be more than an interaction between an actor and his fans. After all, Kher’s political views have been more newsworthy than his acting exploits of late.

On November 7, he famously led the March for India in Delhi, protesting against writers and other luminaries who had been returning their awards to express their disquiet over the rising intolerance in the country.

Last week, he criticised fellow actor Aamir Khan, who had also raised some questions about the country's social fabric. He told Khan to remember that the country was responsible for his success.

Then on Sunday, he said that India and Pakistan should not play cricket against each other as long as violence continues on the border.

Kher addressed all these matters and more over the course of a couple of hours. Here are some highlights:

And there were some questions that went unanswered.
