Vyapam scam: SC issues notice to Centre on plea seeking Madhya Pradesh Governor’s removal
A bench headed by Chief Justice HL Dattu sought replies from all parties within three weeks.
The Supreme Court on Friday issued a notice to the Ministry of Home Affairs and Madhya Pradesh Governor Ram Naresh Yadav seeking their responses to a plea seeking his removal due to his alleged involvement in the Vyapam scam. The case is being investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation.
A bench headed by Chief Justice HL Dattu tagged the case along with several petitions dealing with it, and sought replies from all parties within three weeks. The petition was filed by activist Sanjay Shukla. The CBI took over the investigation into the multi-crore entrance exam and admission scam in Madhya Pradesh in July. The accused include several high-profile professionals, politicans and bureaucrats, reported PTI. Around 40 people related to the case have been found dead, including Yadav’s son Shailesh.
The Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board, also known as Vyapam, conducts examinations for various posts such as teachers, medical officers, constables and forest guards.
