Maggi case: Supreme Court seeks response from Nestle on food regulator’s plea
The apex court has asked the Swiss company to further test its instant noodles snack.
The Supreme Court on Friday asked for a reply from Nestle India and the Maharashtra government on a plea filed by the Food Safety Standards Authority of India. The FSSAI’s plea opposed the Bombay High Court’s verdict which lifted the ban on the noodles. The apex court has asked Nestle India to further test the product, PTI reported.
A bench comprising Justice Dipak Misra and Justice PC Pant fixed the next hearing in the case for January 13. The FSSAI plea had questioned the samples provided by the food giant for testing, and said the tests should have been conducted on random samples instead of those provided by the company.
