The Ministry of External Affairs on Thursday said India has not imposed a deadline on Pakistan to investigate the Pathankot attacks, ANI reported. Addressing a press conference, spokesperson for the ministry Vikas Swarup said they were awaiting “prompt and decisive action” from Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. “The ball is in Pakistan’s court. The immediate issue is Pakistan’s response to the Pathankot attack and actionable intelligence that’s been provided to it [Pakistan],” he said.

When questioned about the foreign secretary-level talks that were scheduled for January 15 in Islamabad, he said it was too early for him to comment. “There is a lot of time between January 7 and 15. We will wait to see what happens in this time,” Swarup said.

In addition, Swarup said the attack at the Indian Air Force airbase in Pathankot had “renewed focus on the challenge of cross-border terrorism”. He also said that Sharif had assured Prime Minister Narendra Modi of a prompt response. “India now awaits that prompt response,” Swarup added.

Elsewhere, Pakistani media reported that Sharif chaired a high-level meet on security over the attack in Pathankot.
