An unbeaten 93 off just 58 balls from David Warner helped the Sunrisers Hyderabad chase Gujarat's Lions' total of 162/7 with four wickets in hand in the second qualifier of the 2016 Indian Premier League in Delhi on Friday. The win took Hyderabad into the final against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Sunday, while Gujarat will have to settle for third place after topping the league table.

Earlier, a half-century from Aaron Finch helped Gujarat post a par 162/7 on the board after being asked to bat first.

Here is how the action unfolded:

11.35 pm: SRH 163/6 in 19.2 overs (Warner 93*, B Sharma 27*)

And it's all over! Warner does an ABD! He replies to PK's words in the bowler's previous over by smashing him past point for four to kill the match. A single then does the job as Warner leaps in the air and roars! What a win this has been! Absolutely stellar knock – 93 not out off 58 balls – and he won't be disappointed the least bit that he missed out on a hundred.

SRH will face RCB in the final on Sunday in Bengaluru.

11.30 pm: SRH 158/6 in 19 overs (Warner 88*, B Sharma 27*)

Bravo is back for his fourth and Warner gets a thick edge to the deep point boundary for four. Finch then saves two runs at the cover boundary with an exceptional fielding effort, but cannot stop the ball from reaching the rope the very next ball. Bipul Sharma finishes the over with a monstrous six straight down the ground! What an over! Nineteen off it and SRH have one leg in the final! Just five needed off the last over.

11.24 pm: SRH 139/6 in 18 overs (Warner 75*, B Sharma 21*)

Kulkarni is back for his last over and gives just two runs from the first four balls. Bipul Sharma then shuffles across and flicks him over deep backward square-leg for six. Two come off the last ball, with SRH needing 24 from the last two overs.

11.20 pm: SRH 129/6 in 17 overs (Warner 74*, B Sharma 12*)

Bipul Sharma swings and swings hard at Praveen Kumar. He clears the long-off rope and that's a welcome six runs for SRH. There are some words exchanged between PK and Warner at the end of the over. Three overs to go, SRH need 34 more. Things are heating up!

11.15 pm: SRH 118/6 in 16 overs (Warner 74*, B Sharma 1*)

Bravo is back for his third and gets Ojha to pull him straight to deep mid-wicket. Not what Hyderabad wanted at this stage and now you can't help but think that even Warner cannot pull this off single-handedly. Just two off the over. SRH need 45 from the last four overs.

11.07 pm: SRH 116/5 in 15 overs (Warner 73*, Ojha 10*)

Warner has decided it's time to go boom as he smashes Smith for six over , before beautifully finding the gap in the covers for four. Naman Ojha makes it a fantastic over for Hyderabad with a mightly pull that goes for six off the last ball. Nineteen off the over! They need 47 from the last five overs.

11.03 pm: SRH 97/5 in 14 overs (Warner 61*, Ojha 3*)

Kulkarni is back for his third over and bowls a good one, giving away just six runs. Hyderabad now need 66 off the last six overs at 11 an over. It's boom or bust. What's Warner going to do now?

10.58 pm: SRH 91/5 in 13 overs (Warner 57*, Ojha 1*)

Kaushik is back for a fourth straight over and he gets Cutting's edge that is snapped up by Karthik behind the sticks. One more batsman deserts Warner in the middle. Hyderabad are in some trouble now, even as Warner ends the over with a slog sweep for six. Kaushik still finishes with impressive figures of 2/22. Oh, and replays show that there might not have been an edge after all!

10.53 pm: SRH 82/4 in 12 overs (Warner 50*, Cutting 7*)

Bravo traps Hooda in front as Hyderabad lose another wicket. Warner is being left high and dry by the rest of his teammates. He needs someone to stick with him, as Ben Cutting comes in to join him. Cutting pulls Bravo for four later in the over.

Meanwhile, a few thousand kilometres west, England finish Day 1 of the second Test against Sri Lanka at 310/6.

10.48 pm: SRH 75/3 in 11 overs (Warner 50*, Hooda 4*)

Kaushik is back for a third and bowls another good over, but for the last ball which Warner gets past the keeper for four. The boundary also brings up Warner's half-century.

10.42 pm: SRH 66/3 in 10 overs (Warner 43*, Hooda 2*)

Dwayne Bravo is brought into the attack and bowls another miserly over for the Lions. Just four off it, and Hyderabad need 97 from the last 10 overs to win.

10.37 pm: SRH 62/3 in 9 overs (Warner 41*, Hooda 0*)

Kaushik is back for a second and he strikes gold! Yuvraj lofts the left-arm spinner high looking to clear long-off, but can only find the fielder. Just one run comes off the over, as Hyderabad begin feeling the nerves.

10.31 pm: SRH 61/2 in 8 overs (Warner 40*, Yuvraj 8*)

Raina is back for another one, and Warner welcomes him with a mighty loft straight down the ground for six. A misfield later in the over from Andre Tye concedes another boundary as Hyderabad make up for the previous two overs with 12 runs in this one.

10.28 pm: SRH 49/2 in 7 overs (Warner 29*, Yuvraj 7*)

Shivil Kaushik, India's answer to Paul Adams, is into the attack. By the time the Hyderabad batsmen figure out his action, it's the end of the over. Just three off it again.

10.25 pm: SRH 46/2 in 6 overs (Warner 25*, Yuvraj 5*)

Suresh Raina brings himself into the attack, hoping for some more Powerplay luck. He doesn't get a wicket, but bowls a tidy over, conceding only three runs. That's the end of the Powerplay and Gujarat will be reasonably happy so far.

10.21 pm: SRH 43/2 in 5 overs (Warner 25*, Yuvraj 5*)

Dwayne Smith is into the attack and gets a wicket first ball! It was a really bad delivery, short and wide, but Henriques can only hit it straight to cover. Yuvraj is the new batsman and he gets off the mark by mightily cutting the medium-pacer for four. Warner gets a boundary too, guiding the ball wide of the keeper.

10.16 pm: SRH 33/1 in 4 overs (Warner 20*, Henriques 11*)

Henriques gets the over started with another boundary past point, and Warner follows it up with a booming straight drive for four more. Warner is looking really dangerous here!

10.12 pm: SRH 22/1 in 3 overs (Warner 15*, Henriques 5*)

Henriques is off the mark with a lovely boundary past point. Warner gets another four later in the over, in spite of a great effort at the rope by Finch. Warner also crosses 700 runs in this IPL season.

10.08 pm: SRH 11/1 in 2 overs (Warner 9*, Henriques 0*)

Oh, no! Dhawan (0) has run himself out. The run was tight after he pushed the ball to cover and set off. McCullum runs in, picks up the ball, throws it swiftly and gets a direct-hit. Not what Hyderabad would have wanted. Warner then drives Kulkarni for four through the covers.

10.03 pm: SRH 6/0 in 1 over (Warner 5*, Dhawan 0*)

David Warner starts the chase with a boundary off the first ball, coolly flicking Praveen Kumar off his legs. Kumar does well for the rest of the over, giving away only two more runs.

9.43 pm: GL 162/7 in 20 overs (Jadeja 19*, Kulkarni 3*)

Bravo (20) misses a full toss from Bhuvi and gets his stumps knocked over! Kumar bowls an excellent over, but some sloppy fielding means Gujarat cross the 160-mark. They end with 162/7. Will it be enough?

9.36 pm: GL 154/6 in 19 overs (Jadeja 17*, Bravo 18*)

Bravo is in good touch here as he leans out and drives Boult for four to begin the over. He follows that up with another swipe past point for four more. Another boundary follows off the penultimate ball, which Bravo edges past the keeper. Fifteen runs come off the over. Bravo is a champion!

9.31 pm: GL 139/6 in 18 overs (Jadeja 16*, Bravo 5*)

Sran frustrates his teammates more by letting the ball go between his legs at the boundary, but Hyderabad pick up the big wicket of Finch a ball later, after the Australian scores a half-century. Dwayne Bravo walks in and hits a four to still get GL 10 for the over. 160 is still on.

9.26 pm: GL 128/5 in 17 overs (Finch 46*, Jadeja 14*)

Bhuvi is back for a third and keeps it down to just one boundary in the over, which Jadeja smashes down the ground. Will GL manage to cross 160?

9.21 pm: GL 120/5 in 16 overs (Finch 44*, Jadeja 8*)

Boult is back for a third over and does well until the penultimate ball, a short-pitched one that is upper-cut by Finch for four. The last ball of the over is then creamed down the ground for another boundary. Welcome runs for GL.

9.15 pm: GL 109/5 in 15 overs (Finch 35*, Jadeja 6*)

Ben Cutting saves five runs for his team with a magnificent effort at the rope. Finch pulls Sran over mid-wicket and the ball looks to be going over the rope, but Cutting leaps high, gets two hands on the ball, realises he isn't going to land inside and just throws the ball back in before landing. Finch still manages to get a boundary in the over, as Sran misses his line again. Time for another time-out.

9.10 pm: GL 100/5 in 14 overs (Finch 29*, Jadeja 3*)

Aaron Finch decides the only way to get out of this ditch is to launch the big ones. He smacks his compatriot Henriques for two fours and a six, as the 100 comes up for GL. They need many more such shots if they want to cross 160.

9.05 pm: GL 83/5 in 13 overs (Finch 15*)

Ben Cutting is back and he strikes straight away! The slower one fools Dwayne Smith, who skies it and the catch is taken by Shikhar Dhawan. Gujarat are crumbling here!

9 pm: GL 81/4 in 12 overs (Finch 14*)

Aaron Finch mistimes a swipe that goes high in the air. The keeper goes for it, but Sran calls for it and ends up dropping it. Warner is understandably furious! However, Bipul Sharma does end up taking a wicket as McCullum (32) skies him towards long-off and Bhuvi makes no mistake this time. Big wicket for SRH!

8.55 pm: GL 77/3 in 11 overs (McCullum 30*, Finch 12*)

Aaron Finch decided to shift up a gear as he pulls Sran for four and then lofts him over long-off for six.

8.50 pm: GL 67/3 in 10 overs (McCullum 30*, Finch 2*)

Henriques is back for a second and bowls a tidy over, conceding just four runs. At the halfway mark, GL are 67/3 and will want to step it up a notch.

8.46 pm: GL 63/3 in 9 overs (McCullum 28*, Finch 0*)

Bipul Sharma is back and he gets smacked for a four and a six by Karthik, but the Gujarat batsman runs himself out later. Looks like it was some miscommunication with McCullum, but that was not the way they would have wanted to lose a wicket.

8.40 pm: GL 52/2 in 8 overs (McCullum 27*, Karthik 16*)

Moises Henriques is brought in and he starts off with a slow one, but Baz is on top of him as he steps out and wonderfully places it through the gaps for four to the cover boundary. That's the only bit of action in the over, and the umpire signals the strategic time-out as it ends.

8.35 pm: GL 46/2 in 7 overs (McCullum 26*, Karthik 11*)

Ben Cutting comes into the attack and tries to fox McCullum with a slow delivery, but the Kiwi reads it well and lofts it over mid-off for four.

8.29 pm: GL 38/2 in 6 overs (McCullum 20*, Karthik 9*)

Left-arm spinner Bipul Sharma is brought in and Karthik sweeps him for four early in the over. Sharma does well to contain the runs for the remainder of the over. That's the end of the Powerplay and SRH will be quite pleased with their effort.

8.25 pm: GL 32/2 in 5 overs (McCullum 19*, Karthik 4*)

Barinder Sran comes into the attack and gives a freebie to Baz, who whacks it for four. However, the left-armer follows it up with a beauty that goes between the batsman's body and bat. Baz has the last word of the over as he flicks a leg-straying delivery for four to deep backward square-leg.

8.20 pm: GL 23/2 in 4 overs (McCullum 11*, Karthik 4*)

Trent Boult strikes in his second over and what a huge wicket this is! Suresh Raina (1) is trapped plumb in front, and Gujarat Lions are in a bit of a mess here, even as new batsman Dinesh Karthik gets off the mark with a boundary.

8.15 pm: GL 19/1 in 3 overs (McCullum 11*, Raina 1*)

Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowls another good over, which could have conceded a boundary but for a brilliant fielding effort at the boundary by Shikhar Dhawan. Baz is swinging away, but not finding the tope.

Meanwhile, if you're interested, England are 200/3 at tea on Day 1 of the second Test against Sri Lanka. Joe Root is unbeaten on 69 and looking threatening.

8.10 pm: GL 16/1 in 2 overs (McCullum 9*, Raina 0*)

Brendon McCullum gets right into the action as he swings his blade against his compatriot Trent Boult. The powerful hitter gets one boundary through the covers and another to the deep mid-wicket fence.

8.05 pm: GL 7/1 in 1 over (Dwivedi 5, McCullum 1*)

The debate before the start was whether Aaron Finch or Dwayne Smith would open with Brendon McCullum. However, Gujarat skipper Suresh Raina surprised everyone by sending out Eklavya Dwivedi. It did not work out as the 27-year-old upper-cut Bhuvneshwar Kumar straight to deep point. Wicket in the first over for SRH!

7.50 pm: Gujarat are already on the backfoot as they prepare to bat first, according to this stat:

7.45 pm: As we wait for the two teams to take to the field, here's a video of Ravi Shastri, who turned 54 today, running through the Aussie batting line-up in the eighties:

7.30 pm: Sunrisers Hyderabad captain David Warner has won the toss and elected to bowl first against Gujarat Lions in the second qualifier of the 2016 Indian Premier League.

The bigger news from the centre is that Hyderabad's talismanic fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman is sitting out of this game with an injury, with New Zealander Trent Boult getting his first game of the season in his place.

This is how the pitch looks like:

Hello and welcome to Scroll.in's live blog of the 2016 Indian Premier League's second qualifier between Gujarat Lions and Sunrisers Hyderabad. A spot in Sunday's final is at stake, with the winner progressing to Bengaluru to take on the Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Gujarat were the table toppers, but ended up losing narrowly to RCB in a topsy-turvy first qualifier on Tuesday. They have another chance now to make it to the summit clash, but it won't be easy, with Hyderabad being on song too. David Warner's men beat the Kolkata Knight Riders quite easily by 22 runs in the eliminator on Wednesday.

It's do-or-die for both teams today and this promises to be a cracking game at the Feroze Shah Kotla! Stay tuned for more updates.
