Eleven killed in Istanbul bomb blast
A remote-controlled device exploded as a police bus was passing near Beyazit Square.
An explosion left 11 people, including seven policemen, dead in central Istanbul on Tuesday, reported Reuters. Governor Vasip Sahin said scores of people were injured in the attack that targeted a police vehicle.
A remote-controlled device exploded as a shuttle bus carrying police officers was passing near Beyazit Square neighbourhood, a major tourist attraction in Vezneciler district, during the peak hours of Tuesday morning.
Ambulances,and fire engines were sent to the blast site and security has been heightened across Turkey. No group has claimed responsibility for the blast yet.
