Indian boxers Manoj Kumar and Vikas Krishnan qualifed for the upcoming Olympics in Rio de Janeiro after they both won their quarter-final bouts at the 2016 World Qualification event at Baku on Thursday. Kumar defeated Tajikistan's Rakhimov Shavkatdzhon 3-0 in the men's light welter 64 kg category while Krishnan defeated South Korea's Lee Dongyun in the middleweight 75 kg category.

The 29-year old Kumar, who hails from Haryana, won gold at the 2010 Commonwealth Games and has two bronze medals to his credit at the 2007 and 2013 Asian Championships. On the other hand, Krishnan, who also hails from Haryana, has won gold and bronze at the 2010 and 2014 Asian Games respectively.

Two other Indian wrestlers – Devendro Singh Laishram and Sumit Sangwan are also in contention to qualify for the Olympics.
