A shortened version of the Indian Premier League will be held overseas in September every year, the Board of Control for Cricket in India announced on Friday. Starting this year, the "mini IPL" or "IPL overseas" will have all eight franchises participating in it, BCCI president Anurag Thakur said, as reported by ESPNcricinfo. "[It will be] a shorter format, not home and away matches but a lesser number of matches. In a two-week window, we will be able to complete it," he added.

The announcement was made during the BCCI's working committee meeting in Dharamsala. There is no information available yet about the format and other details of this mini IPL.
