Toyota Motor Corp on Wednesday announced that they will recall 1.43 million cars all over the world over a faulty airbags issue. The cars with the defect are models of the Prius hybrid, Prius plug-in and the Lexus CT200h that were manufactured between October 2008 and April 2012.

According to the company, there is a small hole in the inflators of some of the airbags, which are preventing them from inflating properly. Toyoto in a statement had mentioned that the small crack could could widen over time.

Of the vehicles that are being recalled, 7.4 lakh are from Japan, 4.9 lakh from North America, 1.4 lakh from Europe and the rest from other regions. The company, however, said that that no accident or injury has been reported because of this fault.

BBC reported that Toyoto and 11 other companies have recalled around 100 million of cars over faulty airbags supplied by Takata. However, this particular lot of airbags were not made by Takata.
