Another terror attack in Iraq, at least 26 dead
Suicide bombers and gunmen targeted a Shiite shrine north of Baghdad, which earlier this week saw the deadliest strike since the country was invaded in 2003.
Terrorists struck a Shiite shrine in Balad, north of Iraqi capital Baghdad, late on Thursday. At least 26 people were reported dead and more than 50 injured in the attack by suicide bombers and gunmen. The terror strike comes just days after explosions killed around 280 people in Baghdad in the early hours of Monday.
The Islamic State terror outfit was behind the incident on Monday, which is believed to be the worst to hit Iraq since the United States-led invasion in 2003. Although nobody has claimed responsibility for Thursday’s strike yet, reports attributed this attack as well to the Islamic State.
