Two men reportedly gangraped a 25-year-old Israeli woman near Manali in Himachal Pradesh on Sunday morning. The woman registered a complaint at Manali police station but no arrests have been made yet.

According to the police, the woman was waiting for a bus to go to Keylong in Lahaul-Spiti district around 3 am when local youths offered her a lift in a taxi. The Tribune reported that after she got into the vehicle, she found there were six people in the car and that two of them allegedly sexually assaulted her. According to The Times of India, the taxi did not have a license plate.

Inspector General of Police (Central) Ajay Yadav confirmed the incident and said they had informed the Israeli embassy about the incident. He added that the police were collecting evidence and going through closed-circuit television camera footage.

On June 4, 2013, three Nepalese men gangraped a 30-year-old American after offered her a lift in Manali. All three were convicted and sentenced to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment. In 2012, a Chandigarh man raped a 22-year-old Australian woman in Kasol village, Kullu district, after befriending her on Facebook.
