Senior Congress leader Captain Ajay Yadav has decided to resign from the party, reported The Indian Express. The former minister said he was being sidelined in the party, after his invitation to attend a meeting called by Haryana unit chief Kamal Nath was withdrawn at the last minute. Yadav has not tendered his resignation yet.

He said, "I had conveyed to Kamal Nath a day before the meeting that if I am not allowed to attend, I will tender my resignation. When it was conveyed to me that I cannot attend, I resigned from the executive meeting." Yadav added that Nath was "undermining his prestige".

Yadav further said that he had written to Congress chief Sonia Gandhi, informing her of his decision to serve only in the capacity of a party worker. The senior leader, however, said he has no plans of joining any other party.
