Indian shuttler Kidambi Srikanth won his second group stage encounter in the men's singles of the Rio Olympics, beating Sweden's Henri Hurskainen 21-6 21-18 on Sunday. Srikanth cruised through the first game, bagging it in barely 13 minutes, before the Swede made a fight out of it in the second. However, it wasn't enough to stop Srikanth as the world No. 11 recorded an easy win.

The 23-year-old Indian is now through to the pre-quarter-finals stage of the tournament. The win brought some relief to Indian fans after Saina Nehwal's shock exit earlier in the day. Srikanth had won his first preliminary encounter without losing a game against Lino Munoz of Mexico. He is the only Indian competing in the men's singles tournament.
