A Class six student was allegedly beaten to death for not clearing his school fees in Manipur's capital Imphal, reported IANS. The local police have registered a case against the school officials. Investigators are awaiting the postmortem report for further action.
Suresh Tongbram's father said the school officials brought his son home on Friday night with bruises all over his body. They told him Suresh was punished for disobedience. They also asked him to clear the school fees by August 31. "Being a poor farmer, I have been unable to clear the school and hostel fees of Residential Kids Care School in Langol near Imphal where my son was admitted two years back. The school authorities told me to clear the fees or take my son away, but when I went to take him back they said unless the fees are cleared he could not be taken out." Bira Tongbram said.
Suresh collapsed soon after reaching home, he died on Saturday. Bira said he will not take the minor's body from hospital till those who are responsible for the boy's death are punished.
