A sessions court in Kerala on Friday granted bail to popular Malayalam actor Sreejith Ravi, who was detained the previous evening for allegedly misbehaving with schoolgirls in Palakkad district, ANI reported. The matter came to light after 14 girls reported the incident to their principal, who lodged a complaint with the police on August 28.

The students said that on August 27, while they were on their way to school, a man had stopped his car near the school and started “indecently exposing” himself in front of them, according to NDTV. The 40-year-old actor also allegedly clicked their photographs on his mobile phone, reported Deccan Chronicle. All the girls have recorded their statements with the police.

The police complaint, however, does not mention Ravi's name as only a few of the girls could identify him. An officer told NDTV that two of the girls had been asked to come to the police station on September 30 to identify the car and the accused. The official said it could be a case of mistaken identity, but the registration number submitted by the girls matched that of the actor's car. While Ravi admitted that the car mentioned in the complaint belonged to him, he denied the allegations of misconduct, according to The New Indian Express.
