A man stabbed a 22-year-old woman to death at MG Road metro station in Gurugram on Monday morning. Central Industrial Security Force personnel arrested the accused, who has been identified as 25-year-old Jitendra, and handed him over to NCR police.

Officials told PTI that the incident took place around 9.30 am at an unmanned entrance of the metro station. According to IANS, the victim Pinky was stabbed around eight to 10 times. She was taken to a hospital where she died around 11.30 am.

According to The Hindu, Jitendra attacked the 22-year-old from behind and stabbed her multiple times before bystanders could respond. She had called her husband, Man Singh, minutes before the attack and told him that the accused was following her. “As I was talking to her on phone, there was a loud noise and the call was disconnected. No one picked up after that," Singh told Hindustan Times. Hours later, someone picked up his phone call and informed him about the attack.

CISF spokesperson Manjeet Singh told IANS that Pinky, who worked at a beauty parlour, and her attacker, an autorickshaw driver, lived in in Gurugram's Sector-18 and that they knew each other. The police told Times of India they are considering that Jitendra was angry after Pinky rejected his advances. Man Singh had also accused Jitendra of harassing her.

In September, a 21-year-old teacher died after she was stabbed at least 22 times on a busy Delhi street while she was on her way to school.
