India won their second Asian Hockey Champions Trophy on Sunday, holding off a resilient Pakistani side that came back from 0-2 down in the game to level the score. India scored the winner with 10 minutes left in the game through Nikkin Thimmaiah's field goal. They won 3-2 to lift the Asian Champions Trophy in Kuantan, Malaysia.

The squad dominated Pakistan and led towards the end of the first quarter with Rupinder Pal Singh's penalty corner. It was the Indian captain's 11th in the tournament. Roelant Oltamans' side doubled their lead with Yousuf Affan's field goal close to halftime. But Pakistan got one back with a penalty corner of their own from Aleem Bilal.

Pakistan came out strongly in the second half and equalised through Ali Shan's field goal. India, however, found their groove in the final quarter of the match, and Thimmaiah struck the winner with a powerful shot from just inside the Pakistan circle.

India last won the trophy in 2011.
