The Delhi Police has arrested three people for attempting to attack former state chief minister Sheila Dikshit’s daughter Latika Dikshit at her residence on November 17, IANS reported on Friday. Police officers said the arrested men, part of a larger group of seven, had planned to assault Latika Dikshit in groups of two, with one group breaking into her house while the other waited outside.

A First Information Report registered at the Barakhamba Road police station by Delhi Youth Congress leader Shashikant Sharma has accused Dikshit’s husband Syed Mohammad Imran of orchestrating the attempted assault. In the complaint, Sharma said the men were sent to assault him and Latika as he is a witness in an ongoing case against Imran.

Police officers said Sharma and another friend were leaving Dikshit’s residence when they noticed the group of men standing outside the gate to her residence. They went back inside and called police to the spot. While three of the men were arrested, the other four managed to escape in a car. Another car and two bikes were also recovered at the spot, the officers said.

Imran had been arrested on November 14 in Bengaluru in connection with a case of domestic violence filed by Latika Dikshit.
