A Special Investigation Team of the Delhi Police questioned Pakistani journalist Mehr Tarar in connection with the murder of Sunanda Pushkar, Congress leader Shashi Tharoor's wife. Tarar had been involved in a Twitter spat with Pushkar a day before her death. Tarar was grilled for hours at a five-star hotel in New Delhi in the last week of February this year, reported ANI.

Tarar was also asked to fill a questionnaire prepared by the SIT, reported The Huffington Post. She is believed to have denied Pushkar's allegations of an affair with her husband. According to The Hindu, Tarar told the police that she had no relationship with Tharoor and that she had met him only once at a book exhibition in 2013.

Pushkar was found dead inside her suite at a five-star hotel in New Delhi on January 17, 2014. Tarar's name came up after journalist Nalini Singh said Pushkar was upset with Tharoor and Tarar meeting in Dubai. Singh is believed to be the last person with whom Pushkar spoke over the phone hours before her death

In January 2015, the Delhi Police registered a murder case after an AIIMS medical board said poisoning caused her death. Pushkar's viscera samples were sent to the FBI lab in Washington DC in February last year to determine the kind of poison. With Tarar's questioning over, the police now have the statements of all the prime witnesses.
