The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), in a notice released on Monday, informed that it has deferred the official notification for the Combined Medical Services Examination (CMSE) 2018. An official notification was initially scheduled to be released on April 11th, but now no official date for the notification has been given.
Also, the Commission has not commented on whether there will be any changes in the examination dates. In an earlier release, the Commission had notified that the first stage of CMSE 2018 examination was scheduled to be conducted on July 22nd, 2018, with May 7th as the last date for submitting applications.
The Commission had previously made some changes in the CMSE pattern. The General Ability has been removed from the Paper I syllabus, effective from CSME 2018.
The CMSE comprises of two stages. The first stage has two computer-based papers. Paper I deals with questions related to General Medicine and Paediatrics, while Paper II includes Surgery, Gynaecology & Obstetrics, and Preventive & Social Medicine.
The computer-based exam is for a maximum of 500 marks, 250 marks from each paper. Candidates who qualify for the second stage will undergo an interview/personality test.
