The UP Class 10 and Class 12 board exams for 2018 were conducted between February 6th and March 10th this year under tight security. It was in the news as NDTV had reported that over 10 lakh students had skipped the exam. The government claimed that this was due to the clamping down on the education mafia which helped students cheat in the exams.

However, the government later claimed, according to another report by NDTV, that most of the students who had skipped the exam were from other states, some even from Nepal and Bangladesh.
