The registration process for the Odisha Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE) (special) 2018 has begun. OJEE registrations were thrown open on Monday, June 25th and the last date to apply for the exam is July 13th. Interested candidates can register to participate in the OJEE (special) 2018 exam on the official website, ojee.nic.in.

The special OJEE examination will be held on July 22nd to fill up vacant seats in BTech, MBA and MCA courses for engineering and management colleges in the state of Odisha. The results of the exam are expected to be announced on July 25th and the counselling process is scheduled for July 27th.

The decision to conduct a special OJEE examination every year was taken after the high court, in 2014, directed the government to include measures to fill vacant BTech seats. Ever since, the government has been conducting this special OJEE exam round and counselling.

Counselling for the OJEE 2018 special exam is ongoing and the first round of seat allotment will be published in July 2nd. The process OJEE counselling will go on until July 25th, with three rounds of counselling and seat allotment scheduled.

The Times of India reports that in 2017 around 25,000 out of the 40,000 engineering seats were vacant throughout the state, a reason for which this year the number of seats available was reduced to 34,000.

OJEE results were published on May 25th and more than 42,000 candidates were allotted ranks and were eligible to participate in the counselling process.
