It’s official! Oppo is all set to launch the F9 with an even smaller notch than its predecessor, the Oppo F7. The Malaysian division of the company, on its official Twitter page, teased four photos of the upcoming model with the line “The breaking new vision” written across and the words “F9 is coming” below. Oppo is referring to the display’s design as a “Waterdrop screen”.

A short while ago, there were reports that the Oppo F9 would be launched alongside the F9 Pro. However, the selfie-centric phone brand has confirmed the launch of the Oppo F9 without mentioning anything about the F9 Pro. There is also no word on an official launch date as the Twitter account only mentions “coming soon”.

The teaser images are quite picturesque and they depict water as a common theme, possibly hinting that the phone would be waterproof; it is expected that the Oppo F9 would carry at least IP67 certification. It is known from earlier reports that the phone will sport a horizontally set dual-rear camera setup with an LED flash adjacent to the cameras.

The brand also Tweeted a photograph of the Oppo F9, but only of the rear panel of the smartphone, which confirms the earlier report. The image shows the phone in a Sunrise Red colour option. The fingerprint sensor has been conveniently positioned at the centre on the rear below the camera setup.

Oppo’s F series phones are known for the excellent smartphone photography experience they offer and it wouldn’t be a stretch to assume that the Oppo F9 will come with similarly striking features and creative design elements. Rumours are afloat that a launch can be expected as early as August this year.
