It has been quite some time now that Oppo, the selfie-centric smartphone brand, has been teasing the launch of its premium phone, the Oppo F9, for the international market. And finally the day has come that the phone will be launched. The company has revealed on Twitter that the Oppo F9 will be launched for Vietnam and the Philippines on August 15th. The phone with a Waterdrop screen will be unveiled at the countries’ respective capital cities – Ho-chi-minh and Manila.

It is largely presumed from the available information that the India-bound Oppo F9 Pro and Oppo F9 for the global market could sport identical features. The India launch event for the F9 Pro was recently announced for August 21. Both the F9 and F9 Pro will come with Oppo’s in-house VOOC-fast charging and cooling technology with five Layers of Protection, which aims to protect the phone from overheating while charging and prevent damage of the battery.

Oppo’s official Twitter handle, ahead of the scheduled Manila and Ho-chi-minh launch, has revealed a series of additional details that have been unavailable until now. The F9 will feature a powerful HDR 25-megapixel sensor, which aids in capturing better selfies in low light. This is no surprise, coming from a smartphone brand that specializes in selfie-centric devices.

The dual-rear camera specs revealed earlier show that the Oppo F9 will have a 16-megapixel primary sensor with 2-megapixel secondary snapper. Other relevant details about the Oppo F9 include the three colour options, namely, Sunrise Red, Twilight Blue, and Starry Purple, the 6.3-inch display screen and the vibrant ‘gradient design’, which remain same for the device in all markets.

Additionally, the launch event for the Malysian market is scheduled for a day later – August 16th at 3:50 pm. the price of the Oppo F9 will be announced only at the launch event, although it is speculated to be priced competitively.
