Last week, after spending nearly five years in prison on accusations of being a senior Maoist leader, Mumbai political activist Arun Ferreira was finally declared innocent. He has filed suit against the Maharashtra government claiming Rs 25 lakhs in damages.

While he was lodged in Nagpur Central Jail, Ferreira turned his keen eye to the awful conditions in which prisoners lived. He made a diary of sketches and, in this video, he uses them to describe the rhythms of life behind bars.

Video produced by Faiza Khan, director of the documentary 'Supermen of Malegaon'.
