No Hollywood and one Bollywood film. That’s the sum total of this week’s theatrical releases. The only movie in cinemas on December 19 will be PK, a satire starring Aamir Khan and Anushka Sharma.
In deference to the mighty fan following that director Rajkumar Hirani has built since his 2003 debut Munnabhai MBBS, no other movie will be released on the day that PK, in which Khan’s non-blinking titular character holds a mirror to India's strange ways. Sharma plays a journalist who accompanies PK on his adventures.
The movie also stars Sushant Singh Rajput, Sanjay Dutt, and Saurabh Shukla. The filmmakers have kept details about the movie’s plot buried, to emerge only on Friday.
